KATHMANDU, Sept 18: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Monday increased marginally by 4.26 points to close at 1,969.18 points.
The secondary market opened at 1,964.91 points and fell straight to the day’s low at 1,953.64 points in the first half an hour of trading. In the next moment, the market escalated to the day’s high at 1,974.82 points, while the index declined around five points before it closed for the day.
Nepal’s stock exchange market had been reeling under the bearish trend for the past few weeks. On Sunday, the market lost a whopping 42.14 points.

In the intraday trading, the sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also inched up 0.04 points. However, the daily turnover declined heavily to Rs 870.44 million from Rs 2.028 billion on Sunday.
Except banking that witnessed a fall of 5.04 points in its index, all the remaining 12 trading groups had their market value increased. Non-life insurance added 59.57 points, which was followed by trading, hotels and tourism, and life insurance.
Among individual companies, the market values of 149 companies gained in their market values, while 62 companies posted losses in their indices.
Reliable Nepal Life Insurance Limited, with turnover of Rs 93.880 million, topped in terms of transaction volume. With an increase of 9.99 percent, Emerging Nepal Limited was the biggest gainer. Similarly, Shuvam Power Limited lost 9.99 percent in its market value.
