KATHMANDU, August 16: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Tuesday plunged 24.83 points to close at 2,041.06 points.
The secondary market could not retain the sentiment of investors that appeared on Monday, when the market index surged by 55.88 points. On Tuesday, the market rose to as high as 2,088.06 points in the first half an hour of the commencement of the day’s trading. However, the market went into a straight fall in the remaining trading hours.

Despite a double-digit fall in gthe Nepse index, the turnover amount surged to Rs 2.73 billion from Rs 2.43 billion on Monday. The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chips companies shed 3.75 points.
Indices of all the 13 trading groups declined in the intraday trading. Non-life insurance and development banks witnessed a fall of three-digit points in their indices.
In individual companies, Ridi Hydropower Development Company had the largest transaction of its shares worth Rs 408.24 million. Unilever Nepal Limited was the topmost loser while Upper Hewa Khola Hydropower Company gained the biggest percent in its share price.
