NEPSE sheds 10.83 points; daily turnover falls to Rs 2.23 billion

KATHMANDU, March 27: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Wednesday slid 10.83 points down to close at 2,030.86 points.


The market opened at 2,041.70 points and escalated to the day’s high at 2,053.48 points in the first half an hour. In the next moment, the index went to a straight fall and hit the day’s low at 2,025.27 points in the last half an hour of the trading time. The market recovered around five points in the remaining period before the market closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies fell 2.17 points. The daily turnover further declined to Rs 2.23 billion from Rs 2.35 billion on Tuesday.


Manufacturing and processing, which added 64.07 points to its index, was the single gaining group in the intraday trading. Of the 12 losers, life insurance had its index decline by 81.31 points, the highest of all.


Among individual companies, only 51 were recorded as gainers whereas 188 were the losers.


Shivam Cements had transactions of its shares worth Rs 97.22 million and led the segment of highest turnover. Kalika Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited lost the highest of 5.66 percent of its market price, while Sarbottam Cement Limited was recorded as the topmost gainer.
