Nepse slides down 11.04 points; daily turnover falls to Rs 1.106 billion

KATHMANDU, Oct 5: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Thursday dropped 11.04 points to close at 1,956.92 points.


The secondary market opened at 1,967.97 points and escalated to the day’s high at 1,970.14 points in the first 40 minutes of trading. The market went downhill for the next three hours and hit the day’s low at 1,954.76 points in the last 10 minutes. The market recovered around two points before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also declined 1.53 points. The daily turnover stood at Rs 1.106 billion, down from Rs 1.189 billion on Wednesday. 


Except for mutual funds that gained a margin of 0.04 points, the remaining 12 groups posted losses. Life insurance dipped the highest of 62.07 points, followed by hotels and tourism index and non-life insurance.  


Among individual companies, the market values of 172 companies declined, while 48 companies posted gains in their indices.


Citizen Life Insurance Company Limited, having trading of its shares worth Rs 44.33 million, led in terms of share transaction value. Infinity Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited lost the highest of 9.94 percent. Similarly, Barahi Hydropower Public Limited was the biggest gainer by adding 9.30 percent to its market price.
