This neutral stance includes leaders from Limbuwan who had previously joined JSP.

The new faction also comprises members who had left CPN-UML under Ashok Rai's leadership.

Leaders Khagendra Makhim and Lawati, along with Saru Singhak, supported an independent candidate in the recent Ilam by-election.

The split in JSP resulted in 12 parliamentary seats dividing, with seven members aligning with Ashok Rai and five supporting Upendra Yadav.
