KATHMANDU, Aug 10: This week saw a new record in gold prices. Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, gold prices initially rose, then fell mid-week, and increased again toward the end of the week. Analysts attributed the mid-week decrease to improvements in the US labor market and a strengthening US dollar.
In the domestic market, gold prices also set a new record this week. On Sunday, the price of gold was Rs 149,700 per tola. By Saturday, the price had peaked at Rs 150,000 per tola.
