KATHMANDU, June 8: Lawmaker Metmani Chaudhary, who has been recommended for the post of Minister for Urban Development by the CPN (Unified Socialist), has said that the newly-recommended ministers will be sworn in by Thursday.
A party within the ruling coalition, the CPN (Unified Socialist), recalled its current ministers in the government and recommended new names to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba. However, PM Deuba had blocked the proposal. The old ministers have been given continuity.
Newly-appointed ministers to be sworn in today
Chaudhary, who arrived at the Parliament building in Naya Baneshwor for a meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, said that the oath taking ceremony of the new ministers will be done by Thursday. He also said that the oath taking ceremony could take place even today.
“The party has made its decision and it will be implemented. But today we are a party within a five-party alliance. While we were confirming the time for taking oath, some of our party members said that we also need some time to address the internal problems of the party. The new ministers will probably be sworn in by tomorrow if not today.” he said.
He said that Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal had also agreed to the delay in the oath-taking ceremony as the CPN (Maoist Center) and the Nepali Congress (NC) are also under pressure to recall the current ministers and appoint new ones. He said that the decision of the CPN (Unified Socialist) to reshuffle the Cabinet was not immature.
