KATHMANDU, Sept 13: A distinguished delegation from Nepal, led by Nepal Italy Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI) President Sanjay Agrawal and accompanied by secretaries Roma Nath Ghimire and Manoj Shrestha Bhadel, embarked on their inaugural visit to Italian chambers in Rome and Milan from September 3 to September 9, 2023.

According to a press release, this visit opened new avenues for NICCI to engage in discussions about bilateral relationships and explore promising business opportunities. The primary objective was to foster and enhance business and cultural ties between Nepal and Italy, with the shared belief that these efforts would mutually benefit both nations.

For the first time in history, Nepal actively engaged with two influential Italian chambers, the Rome Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Milan Chamber of Commerce & Industry, both renowned for their semi-government status. These chambers are dedicated to supporting Italian businesses and ensuring consistency in business policies, regardless of the scale of enterprise.

“This meeting held immense significance, as it formally recognized NICCI within Italian government authorities and ASSOCAMERESTERO's sovereign perspective. It underscored the shared vision for the future and the European Union,” reads the press release.

It further said, “During these meetings, discussions were held with the esteemed Consulate General of Nepal, Paolo Nugari, in Rome. With extensive experience in Nepal since 1970, Nugari expressed optimism for Nepal's future and pledged support for NICCI's recognition by the Italian government, setting the stage for transformative growth and business prospects.”

According to the press release, the meeting with Milan Chamber of Commerce (PROMOS ITALIA), the first of its kind by a private entity from Nepal, yielded significant success. Milan Chamber, Italy's largest and most influential, expressed its readiness to support NICCI in various capacities. Milan specializes in export-related businesses, while the Rome Chamber focuses on policy matters and technical support.

“Discussions during these meetings encompassed a wide range of topics, including emerging business opportunities. Further details from these discussions will be presented at the upcoming NICCI meeting, where Federico Maria Bega, Director (Chief Strategic), will provide comprehensive insights,” reads the press release.
