KATHMANDU, Sept 30: The accusation made by Sanjeev Neupane against Grande International Hospital regarding medical malpractice ‘that led to abnormal growth of his new born’ has been upheld by Nepal Medical Council.
The council handed over a letter to the victim party on Sunday that clearly says that the child suffered due to a series of mistakes done by the doctors. An emotional Neupane told Republica that the council did a fair investigation and he will follow the necessary process to claim compensation from the hospital although the sufferings of the child and the emotional pain they went through can never be covered in any way.

Dhundiraj Poudel, chief of the ethical committee of NMC, said that they have not yet cleared the hospital from the case. A team of experts minutely examined the case and investigated all necessary aspects to reach the conclusion, he said.
“The team checked everything in detail and talked to all the doctors involved in all the units where the child had remained for treatment. And on the basis of the findings of the experts, it has been established that there has been a series of mistakes in handling the case,” he said. The child was born to Ekta and Sanjeev at the hospital on June 2018.
The baby was given 66 ml of paracetamol instead of the prescribed dose of 4.5 ml, among other blunders done by the hospital.
“We are yet to announce the result officially. We will provide the details of this case including what actions are to be taken against the erring doctors next week,” said Poudel said.
