KATHMANDU, Dec 4: Not a single complaint has been registered at the Parliamentary Hearings Committee (PHC) against four ambassadorial nominees, prior to their hearings.
According to deputy spokesperson at the parliament secretariat Keshav Aryal, the committee didn't receive even a single complaint against the ambassador nominees during the 10 days provided for the purpose through a public notice. Aryal informed that the hearings committee secretariat received a principal complaint questioning the cabinet's ambassador selection process itself.

Given the majority of the ruling coalition in the hearings committee and zero complaint against the nominees, the four ambassador-designates are likely to be endorsed by the parliamentary hearing. The government had recommended Nilamber Acharya for Nepali envoy to India, Anjan Shakya to Israel, Udaya Raj Pandey to Malaysia and joint secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Krishna Dhakal to the UAE, last month.
Earlier, the PHC had received zero complaint against the then chief justice-designate Gopal Parajuli in 2017. The hearings committee is likely to summon the ambassador-designates next week.
