TAPLEJUNG, June 30; The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) infections in Aathrai Tribeni Rural Municipality of Taplejung is increasing day by day. According to the health office of the district, there are currently 169 active cases of COVID-19 in the rural municipality alone.
The rural municipality has the highest number of infections in the district. According to Pratima Kharel, Public Health Officer of the district, there are 52 active cases of COVID-19 in Phungling Municipality, 32 in Merineng Rural Municipality, 31 in Maiwakhola Rural Municipality, 12 in Mikkhakhola Rural Municipality and seven in Sidhingwa Rural Municipality.
In addition, 110 samples tested positive for COVID-19 in Taplejung District Hospital. With this, the total number of active cases in the district has reached 469, Kharel said.
Infection rate increases in rural areas of Taplejung, 19 deaths...
So far, 824 patients in the district have recovered from the deadly viral disease. As many as 3,441 samples have been tested through antigen tests in the district.
Death toll reaches 18
As many as 18 people have succumbed to COVID-19 in Taplejung district so far. According to the district health office, the contagious disease has killed seven males and 11 females in the district.
According to the statistics, Phungling Municipality has recorded the highest mortality rate with 12 deaths. Similarly, two deaths each in Maiwakhola and Phaktanglung Rural Municipality and one each in Sirijunga and Mikkhakhola Rural Municipality respectively.
2160 samples tested through PCR method
So far, 2,160 samples have been tested through the PCR method in the district, following the outbreak of the second wave of COVID-19. Out of the tests conducted, as many as 418 people have tested positive for COVID-19.
