One injured as police, smugglers exchange fire in Bardiya

BARDIYA, Dec 10: A man was injured when a gang of alleged smugglers and police exchanged fire at Deudakal forest of the district on Saturday.

BARDIYA, Dec 10: A man was injured when a gang of alleged smugglers and police exchanged fire at Deudakal forest of the district on Saturday.


A team of police from Regional Investigation Bureau and Central Investigation Bureau had reached the jungle in search of people behind stealing idols from Chandannath Temple when smugglers opened fire at the law enforcement agency.

DIG Madhav Prasad Nepal told Republica Online that one alleged smuggler was injured in police firing.He has sustained bullet injuries in his knees, said Nepal.


Police have arrested two alleged smugglers and also seized an idol of Lord Buddha. Police in large number have been deployed following the incident.
