Photo journalists and their equipment to be insured

KATHMANDU, Aug 24: Here's good news for photo journalists in the country. Now their health and camera will be covered under the insurance scheme. 



An agreement has been inked between the Photojournalist Club (PJ Club) and Shikhar Insurance at the Nepal Tourism Board on Wednesday for the provision of health and camera insurance for photo journalists, amid a programme. 



Bikash Karki of the PJ Club and Dip Kumar Pandey of Shikhar Insurance have made an agreement according to which the camera of the photo journalists will be insured for Rs 300,000 while their health and accident insurance coverage will be worth Rs 100,000 and Rs 500,000 respectively. 



A statement issued by the PJ Club following the agreement stated that the photo journalists cannot claim for the insurance for the camera in case of theft but they could claim for the same in other conditions. 



Karki, the President of PJ Club, remarked that with this move the photo journalists now could work assured for not only health is insured but also their camera as well due to the accident insurance. RSS
