PM Dahal bats for pragmatic education

KATHMANDU, Sept 3: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has reaffirmed the commitment of the government towards the development and promotion of practically useful education as well as the regulation to the academic institutions across the country.

KATHMANDU, Sept 3: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has reaffirmed the commitment of the government towards the development and promotion of practically useful education as well as the regulation to the academic institutions across the country. 



Speaking to a team of representatives from Democratic Professors Association at his official residence at Baluwatar, on Saturday, PM Dahal pledged to solicit suggestions from the Ministry of Education and stakeholders on how to regulate and manage the universities.

 

"The government is open to recommendations from all quarters on how to systematize and administer universities and the subordinate research more effectively and how to make education practically useful," said Dahal, reiterating the government's willingness to implement the recommendations. 



He assured that he will issue directives to the authorities concerned to ensure inclusiveness in the universities by taking into confidence all parties concerned, according to the Press Coordinator of PM, Govinda Acharya. 



PM also shared the team that he was taking a stock of the situation and academic programs of the universities in the country, including the oldest one-Tribhuvan University. 



On the occasion, the team led by Association's Chairperson Uday Tiwari urged PM Dahal to enable academic environment in the universities as well as regularize research centers. 



The team also pressed for education reforms and demanded with the government to put in place plans for short, mid and long terms to upgrade the varsities in the country. 



They also drew the attention of the government to provide adequate fund for scholarships to the poor and diligent students. RSS
