PM Oli had made appointments at various constitutional bodies and dissolved the House of Representatives (HoR) on Dec 20, 2020 which has largely been opposed by political parties and lawmakers. The Constitutional Council meeting to be held on Wednesday is expected to discuss the same issue.

Following the dissolution of the lower house of parliament, protests and demonstrations have erupted across the nation.

The case of house dissolution is currently sub judice at the apex court. The writ petitioners ended their pleadings on the case on Sunday. The government side began pleading from Monday.
