KATHMANDU, Jan 1: Police intervened in a gathering at Maitighar Mandala where individuals were celebrating 'Dhoti Diwas' on January 1.

KATHMANDU, Jan 1: Police intervened in a gathering at Maitighar Mandala where individuals were celebrating 'Dhoti Diwas' on January 1.


Members of the Madhesi community assembled at Maitighar Mandala donning white dhotis and displaying a banner declaring 'Dhoti Diwas.'

Authorities arrested 30 participants for demonstrating in a prohibited area, as the government has enforced a ban on activities such as demonstrations, gatherings, and processions at Maitighar Mandala. 


Sources said Janamat Party Chairman CK Raut and a lawmaker of federal parliament is among those arrested. He was arrested by police from Babarmahal area as he was heading to Maitighar Mandala to join the Dhoti Diwas.a
