Police mobilized in search of Manang helicopter, locals say 'fire seen'

KATHMANDU, July 11: The police have been mobilized to search for the missing Manang Air helicopter. Chief District Officer of Solukhumbu, Basant Bhattarai said that the police have been mobilized to search for the helicopter in the Lamjura area of Solukhumbu district.

KATHMANDU, July 11: The police have been mobilized to search for the missing Manang Air helicopter. Chief District Officer of Solukhumbu, Basant Bhattarai said that the police have been mobilized to search for the helicopter in the Lamjura area of Solukhumbu district.


“The search has been started focusing on the Lamjura area in Solududhakund Municipality Ward 2,” said CDO Bhattarai, “It will take another hour for the police to reach the incident site, the search is underway.”


“Locals in that area have reported a fire, but it has not been confirmed,”  said the CDO Bhattarai.

The helicopter had six people on board including the captain and five foreign passengers. The pilot is said to be Chet Bahadur Gurung and passengers are  five Mexicans.


Altitude Air's helicopter has been mobilized to search for the Manang Air helicopter, which lost contact during its flight from Solukhumbu to Kathmandu.
