Police seize 400 grams gold ornaments wrapped in a diaper from TIA

KATHMANDU, July 7: The Kathmandu Metropolitan Police arrested a man traveling to Kathmandu from Qatar with 400 grams gold ornaments wrapped in a diaper from Tribhuvan International Airport on Sunday.

KATHMANDU, July 7: The Kathmandu Metropolitan Police arrested a man traveling to Kathmandu from Qatar with 400 grams gold ornaments wrapped in a diaper from Tribhuvan International Airport on Sunday.


 Lila Bahadur Basnet, a migrant worker from Morang was arrested by a team from the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Range (KMPR), Kathmandu. Basnet was returning home on Himalayan Airlines after work in Qatar.

The police team acted on a tip-off. He had traveled to Qatar three years ago for a job. The police also arrested two others identified as Rupesh Giri and Tek Bahadur Thapa, who reached the airport to receive the gold.


Basnet told the police during interrogations that he brought the gold handed by somebody as a parcel, said KMPR's Spokesperson Hobindra Bogati, adding that further investigations were on.
