Postal Service Department to resume international postal services

KATHMANDU, Oct 15: The Postal Services Department (PSD) is set to resume international postal services. The PSD has discussed, coordinated and corresponded with international airlines companies and other stakeholders concerned for the operation of international postal service within the month of October.

KATHMANDU, Oct 15: The Postal Services Department (PSD) is set to resume international postal services. The PSD has discussed, coordinated and corresponded with international airlines companies and other stakeholders concerned for the operation of international postal service within the month of October.


Director General of the PSD Indu Ghimire said that the process of resuming the international postal service has been expedited with the aim of developing the postal service along with the development of information, communication and technology.

The PSD has been working on express postal services, parcels/goods and letters, under internal express service by air in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Kaski, Morang, Dhanusha, Bara, Rupandehi, Banke and Kailali districts in one day. Similarly, the PSD has been providing service on two days and in the remaining districts on three days in districts such as Parbat, Syangja, Tanahun, Sunsari, Saptari. , Sirha, Mahottari, Rautahat, Kapilvastu, Nawalparasi, Chitwan, Bardia, Surkhet, Kanchanpur, Mugu, Dolpa and Jumla.


President of Nepal Philatelic Society (NPS) Kedar Prasad Pradhan emphasized that since the post office operates postage service at a cheaper rate than other companies, the PSD should promote it effectively. He said that every activity should be transparent to make the PSD more effective and trustworthy.


Agreements have been made with Yeti Airlines, Nepal Airlines, Shree Airlines and Buddha Airlines to transport postage within the country by air. Among other things, the PSD plans to carry out some improvements for individual and institutional EMS, parcels, letters and letters to be transported by post.
