Preparations underway to allow province govts to conduct SEE exams: NEB Chairperson Sharma

KATHMANDU, Feb 10: Chairperson of the National Examination Board (NEB), Dr Mahashram Sharma has said that a law is being drafted to give the responsibility of holding the SEE examination to the provincial governments. He said so while speaking at an interaction on examinations. The event was organized by Education Journalists Nepal (EJON) in Kathmandu on Thursday.

KATHMANDU, Feb 10: Chairperson of the National Examination Board (NEB), Dr Mahashram Sharma has said that a law is being drafted to give the responsibility of holding the SEE examination to the provincial governments. He said so while speaking at an interaction on examinations. The event was organized by Education Journalists Nepal (EJON) in Kathmandu on Thursday.


Stating that it was not appropriate to give everything to the provincial governments without any legal provision, Dr Sharma said that if the government passes such a law empowering the provinces, the provincial governments can conduct the SEE examinations themselves.

Chairman Sharma said that the provincial government would check the answer sheets, tabulation after examination, checking and sending to the National Examination Board for publication of results as well as coordinate with district as well as federal governments. Similarly, he also said that if the provincial government gets such a right, they could publish the result according to their time as well.


Likewise, He said that there will be 2,000 centers and more than 11,000 schools participating in the SEE examination this year. The board estimates that about 500,000 students will appear in the SEE exams this time. Chairman Sharma also shared that the board is preparing to release the examination schedule of Grade 12 examinations in a few days.
