BIRATNAGAR, May 27: An indefinite prohibitory order has been issued in Biratnagar, the capital city of Koshi Province, effective from today in view of the growing protests by various groups against the naming of Koshi Province.
The District Administration Office, Morang in a notice said that the prohibitory order in designated areas will be in place until further notice.

“The prohibitory order came into effect from 6 am today,” reads the notice.
According to the DAO, Morang, an indefinite prohibitory order has been issued from 6 am on Saturday until further notice to restrict protests, sit-ins, and rallies by various groups after naming of the province.
The designated prohibited zones include the Provincial Assembly, the area east of Devkota Chowk to the west of Koshi Hospital, Chief Minister and Council of Ministers Office Road from Sesha Chowk to Jatuwa Chowk in the south, and a radius of up to 300 meters around the Chief Minister's residence. Additionally, the areas lying to the east of Danfe Chowk near the District Administration Office, Morang are also included as prohibited zones.
Programs like meetings, processions, gatherings, rallies, sit-ins have been banned in the areas designated as prohibited zones. The local administration has warned of strict action if the prohibitory order is violated.
The provincial assembly meeting on March 1 had named the province as Koshi Province. Since then, demonstrations have been held in the provincial capital, Biratnagar, to withdraw the decision. The province assembly meeting of Koshi Province is being held from Sunday.
