Public Roads Act amendment soon: Transport Minister Jwala

DHULIKHEL, July 23: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Prakash Jwala on Saturday said the process of amending the Public Roads Act, and classifying roads would begin soon.


Preparations are already underway in this regard, he said at a press conference organized here in Panauti in Kavrepalanchok district by the Samajwadi Press Organization, Nepal.

Talks were being held on the issue of making the road safety standards, and the formation of the road safety council under the chairpersonship of the line minister, he said.


"The issue of road safety is very serious. Necessary works to this effect are taking place," Minister Jwala mentioned.


The construction of the Suryabinayak-Dhulikhel road will continue with the budget allocated so far, and an additional budget would be managed for the project even by transferring money, he said. Discussions are underway to provide smart driving licenses, he shared.


Operating the fast bus service between Suryabinayak and Ratnapark will begin within three months, and efforts were on to expand the Dhulikhel-Bardibas road, added the Transport Minister.
