JUMLA, Dec 2: Relief materials have been distributed to 370 flood victims in three rural municipalities in the Sinja Valley of Jumla. Relief has been distributed to 150 households in Kanaka Sundari Rural Municipality, 120 households in Hima Rural Municipality and 100 households in Sinja Rural Municipality.
In mid-October, floods and landslides triggered by incessant rain caused great damage in three municipalities of the Sinja Valley. The Nepal government has declared the Sinja area as a crisis-hit area. Hemraj Bhatt, the project coordinator of Pace Nepal, Jumla, said that relief materials including tents, blankets, mosquito nets, electric lamps, and ropes were provided to the flood-affected households in the area with the help of Plan International Nepal.
Five months on, flood victims still await relief
The relief distribution program was attended by the chairman, vice chairman, chief administrative officer of the rural municipalities concerned.
