rmkhabar.com MD held for misleading news

KATHMANDU, Aug 2: The Central Bureau of Investigation of Nepal Police, Maharajgunj arrested Managing Director of rmkhabar.com, a digital portal, Anjila Sapkota alias Prapti Sapkota on the charge of stymieing the investigation of the Nepal Police by publishing misleading information.

KATHMANDU, Aug 2: The Central Bureau of Investigation of Nepal Police, Maharajgunj arrested Managing Director of rmkhabar.com, a digital portal, Anjila Sapkota alias Prapti Sapkota on the charge of stymieing the investigation of the Nepal Police by publishing misleading information.


The digital portal had published news with the title, “Here is who murdered 13-year-old girl after rape”, claiming that a policeman had murdered Nirmala Panta. A photo of a policeman was also published along with the news. This news was published at a time while the CIB was investigating the case.


“This publication is baseless and misleading and mars the fundamental rights and social prestige which further inflicts pain in the victim’s family," siad police.

Police are investigating the incident after filing a case under the Electronic Transaction Act, 2063 Bs.
