KATHMANDU, April 28: Rabi Lamichhane, chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and a newly-elected Member of Parliament, has said that his party was likely to withdraw its support to the government.
Chairman Lamichhane said that there is a possibility of withdrawing the support given to the current government by the RSP after taking the oath of parliament on Friday.

He mentioned that the voters voted for him and his party to end corruption and said that he has objections because the government has removed the issue of ending corruption from the common minimum program. He made it clear that he would move forward only after a serious review of the support given to the government.
He said, “While we are asking for votes from the general public, our most important issue and the issue that we think the most of the general public have voted for us is the issue of ending corruption in the country. In which we said that there should be an investigation into corruption that has or may occur in any period. But, the government removed that provision of investigation corruption from the common minimum program. We have a serious objection to that issue. Because the voters have sent us to parliament hoping for positive changes.”
He said that although they do not want instability in the country, there is a need to re-evaluate the support given to the government.
On Friday, Speaker Devraj Ghimire administered the oath of office and secrecy to RSP Chairman Lamichhane, who was elected an MP from Chitwan constituency-2, and Swarnim Wagle, who was elected from Tanahun constituency-1 from RSP.
