KATHMANDU, Dec 22: The Standing Committee Meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party concluded on Sunday, endorsing a political report presented by chairpersons KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal with revision.
The week-long meeting held at the Dhumbarahi-based NCP headquarters also decided to convene the party's crucial Central Committee Meeting on January 8, according to NCP leaders.
The meeting approved a report prepared by NCP general secretary Bishnu Poudel on the party's statute, paving the way for creating a new post of the party's central vice-chairperson.
Deliberation on joint political report at NCP meet concludes
During the meeting, the leaders also discussed the encroachment of Nepali territories including Kalapani and Susta by southern neighbor India.
Apart from other decisions, the meeting also entrusted the party secretariat to make the party's position clear on the fate of the US-proposed Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) which is currently under the consideration in the Federal Parliament.
The ruling NCP leaders are sharply divided about endorsing the 500 million US grant from parliament after some leaders within the party questioned whether the grant was a part of the Indo-Pacific Strategy (IPS).
