KATHMANDU, Dec 6: The 27th annual general meeting of the VYCCU Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization based in Gaindakot of Nawalparasi district has unanimously elected a 15-member new working committee under the leadership of Keshab Prasad Sapkota.
The elected office-bearers in the new committee are Trailokya Nath Kharel (Vice-Chairperson), Govinda Rimal (Secretary), Kalidas Gaudel (Treasurer) and Prem Prasad Sapkota 'Raju' (Joint-Secretary), informed Election Committee Chairperson Khem Raj Sapkota.
The other members include Hari Lal Sapkota, Indra Raj Jyoti Poudel, Om Prasad Sapkota, Chandra Dutta Jaishi and Shanti Adhikari.

Having the strength of around 26,500 share members, VYCCU has established its national and international fame for its excellence in service and safe and sound financial position, stated the annual progress report unveiled on the occasion.
It has received the International ACCSS (A1 Cooperative Choice for Excellence in Service and Soundness) Brand of Asian Standard being assessed on the basis of four criteria – financial capability, member service, operational efficiency, and consistency in learning and expansion.
ACCESS brand – developed by Nepal Federation of Savings and Credit Cooperative Unions Limited (NEFSCUN) with the technical support of Association of Asian Confederation of Credit Unions (ACCU) – is a tool to institutionalize the SACCOS and enhance its services to the members.
The organization has amassed a total property worth Rs 2.1 billion while it has generated an income of Rs 58.3 million in the fiscal year 2015-16, according to the information shared at the annual general meeting.
Newly-elected Chairperson Sapkota said that the organization keeping up its national and international image would focus its efforts to enhance easy access of the poor and disadvantaged groups to finance and thereby contribute to reduce poverty in the region.
Established in 2001 from 26 members by collecting 50 paisa a day, VYCCU has significant contributions to the socio-economic transformation of the people of its coverage area. RSS
