The office has received 156 e-passports produced by the Department of Passports, Kathmandu, and is distributing them accordingly. One becomes eligible for receiving the e-passport within 15 days of the submission of the application.

The Department that had earlier in 2010 implemented the provision of Machine Readable Passport (MRP) to phase out the handwritten passports has lately switched to e-passports with improved security features to replace the MRP. With the distribution of passports within the districts, services seekers are free from the compulsion of visiting the federal capital Kathmandu for the service.
