Shekhar Koirala and Aman Lal Modi win in Morang 6 and 4

MORANG, Nov 25: Dr Shekhar Koirala and Aman Lal Modi of the ruling coalition have been elected as members of the House of Representatives from Morang 6 and 4, respectively. Similarly, Bhim Parajuli has been elected as a member of the provincial assembly.

MORANG, Nov 25: Dr Shekhar Koirala and Aman Lal Modi of the ruling coalition have been elected as members of the House of Representatives from Morang 6 and 4, respectively. Similarly, Bhim Parajuli has been elected as a member of the provincial assembly.


Dr Koirala of Nepali Congress (NC) won in Morang Constituency number 6 and Aman Lal Modi of CPN-Maoist Center won from constituency number 4.

Koirala defeated outgoing CPN-UML MP and former minister Lalbabu Pandit by a margin of 12,286 votes. Koirala won by securing 35,218 votes. His nearest rival Pandit got 22,932 votes. Koirala, who won the first Constituent Assembly by-election and the second Constituent Assembly, was defeated as a member of the House of Representatives in the election held in 2074 BS.


Similarly, Amanlal Modi of the CPN (Maoist Center) has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Morang-4. Modi won with 30,612 votes, while his closest rival, CPN-UML leader Binod Dhakal, got 24,463 votes. Modi became MP for the third time by securing victory with a margin of 6,149 votes.


Likewise, Bhim Parajuli of NC and the outgoing mayor of Biratnagar Metropolitan City, won as a member of the provincial assembly with a margin of 1,788 votes. Parajuli got 11,479 votes, while his nearest rival, former minister of CPN-UML, Jeevan Ghimire got 9,691 votes.
