Shivam, KNP deal for nat’l women’s volleyball

KATHMANDU, April 18: Shivam Cement Limited has decided to co-sponsor the fourth KNP National Women’s Volleyball Championship, which will be organized by the Sher Bahadur Memorial Foundation.

KATHMANDU, April 18: Shivam Cement Limited has decided to co-sponsor the fourth KNP National Women’s Volleyball Championship, which will be organized by the Sher Bahadur Memorial Foundation. 


The foundation and the company signed an agreement at an event organized in the capital on Tuesday. The foundation’s patron Gamali Khadka and Shivam Cement’s project head Nikhil Agrawal signed on the agreement paper.  According to the agreement, Shivam Cement will provide Rs 300,000 in cash and Rs 200,000 in kind in order to organize the tournament.

“We have a policy of fully supporting any effort to empower women. And we were very happy to help the foundation in organizing the tournament that helps in women empowerment. Such effort also helps the sports industry of the country,’’ Agrawal said. Likewise, the foundation’s president Ranjan Agrawal expressed his gratitude toward the company stating that help from the private sector was necessary to promote sports. 


The tournament, which is set to be organized with the main sponsorship of KNP Japan, will commence from May 4 and concludes on May 8, will be played at the National Sports Council (NSC)’s Covered Hall. 


The tournament will feature three departmental teams: Tribhuvan Army Club, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police Club along with Shivam New Diamond Academy, Western Volleyball Association, and Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Center, according to the organizers. 


The winner of the tournament takes home Rs 150,000, while the runner-up will bag Rs 100,000. The third-placed team will be rewarded with Rs 50,000. Likewise, the best players of each category will be prized with Rs 5,000 each.
