Six people held for smuggling out liquor

RAJBIRAJ, April 9:  Police have taken under control six people including an Indian national on the charge of smuggling alcoholic drinks from Nepal to India. They were arrested from Belhi Chapena Rural Municipality-6 of Saptari district on Sunday evening.

RAJBIRAJ, April 9: Police have taken under control six people including an Indian national on the charge of smuggling alcoholic drinks from Nepal to India. They were arrested from Belhi Chapena Rural Municipality-6 of Saptari district on Sunday evening.


A team of policemen on patrolling duty held 31-year-old Birendra Saha of Madhubani district, India, and 25-year-old Baiju Mandal, 25-year-old Surendra Yadav, 20-year-old Mukesh Mandal, 18-year-old Pawan Kumar Yadav and 42-year-old Putaul Singh of Belhi Chapena rural municipality.

They were arrested while trying to smuggle out liquor loaded on a motorcycle bearing Indian registration number plate. They had stored large quantity of liquor for smuggling purpose at the house of one Ram Prasad Singh at Belhi Chapena rural municipality in Saptari district. The confiscated liquor is worth approximately Rs 600 thousand, police said.
