BIRGUNJ, Sept 2:  A teenager has been missing from the hostel of a private school at Power House Chowk in Birgunj since Thursday.

The whereabouts of the 13-year-old Amit Kumar Chaurasiya, who is the youngest son of ward chairman of Kalikamai Rural Municipality-2, Sona Lal Chaurasiya, is still unknown despite search operation launched by the police. The Chaurasiya family, which is originally from Bhedihari village in Parsa district, has been living in Tejarath Tole in Birgunj. The family had kept Amit, who was studying in Grade VI, at the hostel since April.  The family of missing child is worried about his safety as they do not have any clue about his whereabouts even three days after his disappearance, according to the missing child's uncle Panna Lal Chaurasiya.

“We received a call at about 5 pm on Thursday that Amit was missing. The hostel inquired if was at home,” said Chaurasiya.

The missing child has not made any contact with his family members so far. His friends have also expressed ignorance about his whereabouts. Chaurasiya complained that the school had not shown any interest to find the missing child. “They are only providing us lip service,” he said. “It is the responsibility of the hostel authority to take care of children staying at the hostel. We have found gross negligence on part of the hostel.”
