BAITADI, Sept 24: SOS Children's Village has rescued six helpless sisters from Dashrath Chand Municipality-10, in Baitadi. The sisters between the ages of five to 15 years old had been living helplessly without parents for the last two years.
The tragedy in their lives began three years ago when their mother Meena Devi Lawad went missing after leaving them. Their father Rajuram died one year after their mother's disappearance. Since then, Nilam, the eldest sister of 15 years old has been taking care of herself and all the other five sisters.
Six persons of same village killed in Baitadi road mishap
After knowing about their condition, Binod Bahadur Chand, a Social Development Officer from Dasharath Chand Municipality had been managing food and other necessities for them on behalf of the municipality and his personal investment.
Their story was soon covered by various media which also caught the attention of the Chief District Officer of Baitadi and the chiefs of security bodies and the people's representative of the municipality. After some discussions, they agreed to send the sisters to SOS Children's Village in Kavre.
Surendra Amagai, the director of SOS Children's Village, Kavre, expressed his immense happiness after rescuing the helpless girls. "Our organization strives to help such children from all across the nation," he said. Amagai also informed Republica that the organization has taken the full responsibility of education and upbringing of the six girls.
All the sisters wanted to live together. Nilam said that she is extremely happy to be able to study and live in the same place with her sisters.
