Street vendors protest in front of KMC Office

KATHMANDU, August 23: The street vendors have protested in front of the office of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) with various demands. They started the protest after the KMC did not allow business on the footpath. Under the banner of the Independent Nationalist Self-employed Labor Struggle Committee, the street vendors protested in front of the KMC Office.

KATHMANDU, August 23: The street vendors have protested in front of the office of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) with various demands. They started the protest after the KMC did not allow business on the footpath. Under the banner of the Independent Nationalist Self-employed Labor Struggle Committee, the street vendors protested in front of the KMC Office.

They demanded that the state should document and provide identity cards to all the street vendors, the state should make proper management of all these self-employed people, they should not be displaced without alternatives and the inhumane activities of the state administration should be stopped and the agreements made between the self-employed workers and the state should be implemented.


They went to submit a memorandum in the name of the Independent Nationalist Self-employed Labor Struggle Committee with a 3-point demand and warned that if the demands are not met within a week, they will intensify their protest. A few days ago, the KMC removed the shops on the footpaths in Baneshwar and other areas of the metropolis.
