KATHMANDU, July 5: Lawmakers speaking at the 'zero hour' of the parliament meeting here today stressed on turning the House into a place from where instructions are meted out to concerned authorities for solutions rather than a place of outpouring of grievances.

Some parliamentarians shared their views with questions while some stood up in silence for a minute as a symbolic protest because their demands delivered during the zero hour and special time had gone unheard.

The lawmakers were of a common view regarding the mandatory support needed from all sides in addressing the woes of quake-victims, monsoon triggered landslides and flooding, issues related to bridge and irrigation canal, construction of dams and Tarai-Madhes problems.

At the zero hour, lawmakers Ram Chandra Pokhrel, Ram Krishna Yadav, Rajeshwori Rai, Ram Narayan Bidari, Ram Hari Subedi and Radha Krishna Paneru drew the government and parliament's attention on resolving the local problems.

Gopal Dahit took time from the House Speaker at the start of the session prodding the government, parliament and the main opposition party to be serious towards addressing the demands raised by the Federal Alliance including the fringe parties from Madhes. He reiterated their objection towards Nepal's Constitution, and announced a boycott of the parliamentary session.

The lawmakers affiliated with the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) and Federal Alliance walked out of the parliament following lawmaker Dahit's announcement. RSS
