Take action against traffic rule violators: Minister Jhakri

KATHMANDU, March 24: Urban Development Minister Ram Kumari Jhakri has said that those violating traffic rules should be booked.


Stating that the public has been harassed due to violation of traffic rules, she said that those who do so should be dealt with ruthlessly. Handing over technical equipment to the traffic police in the capital, Minister Jhakri said that traffic discipline was important.

Under the direction of Minister Jhakri, 20 wheel locks and 88 traffic lights have been provided to traffic police through the Kathmandu Valley Development Authority. Speaking on the occasion, Kathmandu Valley Development Authority Development Commissioner Januka Dhakal said that the authority was trying to facilitate traffic by managing the Dhobikhola corridor.


Similarly, chief of Traffic Police, Umesh Raj Joshi said that the number of violators was increasing day by day. He said that a revenue amounting Rs 1.8 million was being collected from those violating traffic rules. The amount used to be Rs 1 million daily in the past.
