Valley traffic police intensify checking; over 1,500 faced action in last 24 hours

KATHMANDU, Oct 31: The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office has intensified its campaign of booking the traffic rule violators.


The valley traffic police office has mobilized special police teams and intensified the traffic checking in all the three districts of the Valley- Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur - to prevent traffic offenses.

Spokesperson for the valley traffic police office, Senior Superintendent of Police Rajendra Prasad Bhatta said 1,527 drivers were booked in the last 24 hours under the special campaign. Among them, 75 faced action for drunk-driving, 21 for driving on wrong lanes, 12 for violating traffic light signal, 17 for blowing vehicle horn unnecessarily, 15 for not keeping the vehicle number plate and 321 for over-speeding.


Altogether 1,527 persons faced action in the last 24 hours from 6 AM Monday till 6 AM Tuesday, including 1,066 for breaching an array of traffic rules, said Spokesperson SP Bhatta.
