UDAYAPUR, Oct 13: The tension that flared over the murder of a woman has subsided following an agreement among the all party talks at Beltar in the district.
The tension had flared after the relatives of victim Bhim Kumari Katuwal, 27, of East Beltar-Basaha Municipality-2 demonstrated in front of Area Police Office, Beltar on Wednesday night, District Police Office, Udayapur.
According to SP Narabahadur KC, police had to fire 18 teargas shells and several shots into air after an angry mob of over 500 people from the maternal village of the victim picketed and stared vandalizing the Area Police Office, Beltar.
Case filed against Chaudhari
The tension which fizzled out after firing shots into air had resumed on Thursday morning. The police had to use force to take the situation under control, said Inspector Bhim Silwal of Area Police Office, Beltar.
The situation has turned normal following the talks among the police, locals, political parties, civil society leaders and the kin of the victim.
The body has been handed over to the kin of the victim and they are now preparing to perform funeral rites.
Subas, brother-in-law by relation, had allegedly killed Bhim Kumari with a sharp weapon by taking her to Belbar-6 of Morang district three days ago.
Subash had tried to commit suicide by consuming poison after killing his sister-in-law and is currently undergoing treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan.
Police are investing the case after taking the victim’s husband Rajendra Katuwal, a Head Constable by profession, along with other six family members, said SP KC.
The kin of the victim have suspected the involvement of husband Rajendra and the other family members in the murder of the Bhim Kumari.
