They torched my car because I raised voice against wrongdoings: Deputy Mayor Renu

KATHMANDU, Dec 24: Renu Kumari Mahato, Deputy Mayor of Gaushala Municipality, Mahottari, has complained that her vehicle was set on fire when she raised her voice in favor of good work.


Mahato, who said that she has been raising her voice against the wrongdoings in society, speculated that the arson was planned by someone.

“I have always been raising my voice against injustice and corruption,” she said, “Some representatives in the municipality may not like that.” She mentioned that she will not remain silent as she is threatened to suppress her voice.


Mahottari District Police said that the vehicle of Deputy Mayor Mahato was set on fire at 2:30 AM on Sunday.


According to Dilip Kumar Giri, DSP, and Information Officer of Mahottari, the deputy mayor’s car parked in front of a house in Gaushala Municipality Ward- 1 Ramnagar was set on fire. The police reached the spot and took all the information.


According to the police, her vehicle numbering Province 2, 002-001 Jha 0005 was set on fire. DSP Giri said that the people who set the fire are being searched for.
