UML lawmaker Bhattarai warns PM Dahal not to attempt to fuel caste-based tensions

KATHMANDU, July 12: CPN-UML leader Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai has warned Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal not to attempt to fuel tensions based on caste.

KATHMANDU, July 12: CPN-UML leader Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai has warned Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal not to attempt to fuel tensions based on caste.


During a meeting of the House of Representatives today, Bhattarai cautioned PM Dahal against making any nefarious efforts to stoke conflicts based on different castes, languages, religions and cultures.

He emphasized that the constitutional amendment is aimed at progress and advancement, not regression. Bhattarai questioned, "While the Prime Minister suddenly remembers caste, language, religion, culture, Madhes, Dalits and women, where are the Magars from Rolpa who carried arms for you?"


Bhattarai also questioned, "Where are all the Dalit youths of the country bearing weapons for Prime Minister Dahal?" He cautioned against manipulating the best interests of the country to serve personal agendas.
