KATHMANDU, Jan 22: Unbeaten Armed Police Force Club (APF) women and New Diamond women have marched into the semifinals of the fifth RBB Men’s and Women’s Club Championship volleyball on Tuesday.
At the National Sports Council’s covered hall, AFP beat Tribhuvan Army Club 25-10, 19-25, 25-18, 25-11 to remain unbeaten and advance into the last four as the group winner.
Likewise, New Diamond Club defeated Dhorpatan Sports Club 25-3, 25-16, 25-12 to secure a semifinal spot. After suffering two losses in two games, Dhorpatan crashed out of the championship while Nepal Police Club also found a space in the semis as a runner up. APF will face Police whereas New Diamond will take on Army in the semis.
Reed ends unbeaten run of New Diamond
In men’s competition, Police and APF have booked their places in the quarter finals. Police saw off Manimukunda Club 25-14, 25-20, 25-14 while APF overcame Jawalakhel Volleyball Center 25-14, 25-10, 25-9 to advance into the last eight.
Despite the loss, Manimukunda also advanced as a Group A runner-up. APF is the winner of group B.
Likewise, Bulbule Rara Club, which lost to APF in the first round, also made its way to the quarters as group runner-up. Group A winner Army, runner-up Naya Bazar Social Youth Club, Group D winner Help Nepal Sports Club and runner-up Buddha Tole Youth Volleyball Club have already advanced into the last eight.
Army will face Mukundamani, Police will take on Naya Bazar, APF will battle against Buddha Tole and Help Nepal will contest Bulbule in the last eight.
