Vaccination campaign halted in KMC

KATHMANDU, June 11: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has suspended the ongoing campaign to administer vaccines against COVID-19 to people belonging to 60 to 64 years of age.

KATHMANDU, June 11: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has suspended the ongoing campaign to administer vaccines against COVID-19 to people belonging to 60 to 64 years of age. 


The metropolis halted the programme stating that the government failed to provide the required quantity of the Chinese Vero Cell vaccines. Earlier, it had announced that the vaccination campaign would be continued until June 12. The campaign was launched on June 8.

The KMC Health Department Chief, Hari Kunwar, said that they had to halt the vaccination campaign two days prior to the deadline as the Department of Health Services, Vaccination Division informed that it was not in position to supply the vaccines from Friday.


The first dose of Vero Cell vaccine has been given to some 28,000 people in KMC in a period of three days, according to KMC. The District Public Health Office had provided 32 thousand doses of vaccines to KMC for the latest vaccination campaign and 28,000 doses have already been used.
