KATHMANDU, Dec 28: Kathmandu Valley's minimum temperature was measured 0.6 degrees Celsius today, the lowest so far throughout this year.
Mercury here has been plummeting for the past few days. It was 1.2 (minimum) on Friday. Meteorologists described this as a seasonal phenomenon, not an outcome of any new weather system.
Valley temperature drops to 2.8 degrees Celsius; Saturday, cold...
Mornings and evenings have turned quite chilly due to a constant continuous drop in mercury. However, sunny afternoons will prevent the daytime temperature from further plummeting, meteorologists forecast. According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, Valley's temperature in the afternoon will be around 15-17 degrees Celsius.
In its bulletin giving information about the weather forecast for 24 hours, the Division advised people in the southern plains to follow preventive measures against cold as heavy fog with an absence of sunshine continues to blanket the region, causing the temperature fall.
The Division's latest update states that today's minimum temperature in Jumla dropped to minus 6 degrees Celsius.
Similarly, Dipayal, Dhangadhi, and Dadeldhura recorded the minimum 2 degrees Celsius temperature today followed by 3 degrees in Okhaldhunga, 3.6 in Pokhara and 5.5 in Simara.
