KATHMANDU, June 28: Voting for the second phase of local level elections has begun despite rainy weather in various districts. According to our reporters in the districts, people have already lined up in the polling stations to cast their votes early.

KATHMANDU, June 28: Voting for the second phase of local level elections has begun despite rainy weather in various districts. According to our reporters in the districts, people have already lined up in the polling stations to cast their votes early.


Voters in the provinces 1, 5 and 7 are voting in the second phase of local level elections. In the second phase of the elections, a total of 6,432,765 voters are to cast the vote to elect 150,038. There are more than 62,000 candidates vying for the positions.

The second phase of election is taking place in 35 districts and 334 local units, including a metropolitan city, 7 sub-metropolitan cities, 111 municipalities and 215 rural municipalities.


The Election Commission has deployed 66,900 civil servants while the government has deployed 163,000 security personnel for the second phase of election. Altogether 6,733 poll observers are in the field to monitor the election process.
