BARA, March 12: Chairman of Kolhabi Municipality Ward No. 5, Nand Kishor Chaudhary has been taken into custody by the Division Forest Office, Simara.
Chairman Chaudhary was detained by the Forest Office Simra for investigation on the charge of deforestation.
Ward chairman Bade arrested with Rs 1.5 million bribe
Binod Singh, head of the Division Forest Office, Simra, has alleged that more than 8,500 trees planted in an area of seven and a half bighas were cut under the leadership of ward chair Chaudhary.
Singh stated that in the fiscal year 077/078, Chaudhary personally instructed the removal of several types of plants from a five-hectare area surrounding the Shiv Mandir in the national forest situated in Ward 5 of Kolhabi Municipality.
Chief District Officer of Bara Navraj Sapkota, who arrived with a team to investigate the place of deforestation, confirmed Chaudhary's involvement in the incident.
