KATHMANDU, July 31: A water tanker crashed into the wall of the Mahankal temple in Kathmandu this morning, leaving the driver seriously injured.

KATHMANDU, July 31: A water tanker crashed into the wall of the Mahankal temple in Kathmandu this morning, leaving the driver seriously injured.


The tanker with registration number Na 2 Kha 40 met with an accident at around 2: 30 am when it was on its way to Bhotahiti from Tripureshwar. The tanker hit the wall of the temple.

The driver has been identified as Chet Bahadur Khatri, 59, of Bashundhara, Kathmandu. He is said to be in a critical condition after the accident.


The driver was trapped in the driver's seat and was later rescued by the police. He is undergoing treatment at the Trauma Center.


Eyewitnesses said that the wall of the Mahankal Temple was also damaged following the accident. Khatri was driving the tanker with a capacity of 12,000 liters when the accident took place.
