We will bring back the idols of Nepal that have reached London and Paris: Minister Ale

KATHMANDU, March 3: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Prem Bahadur Ale has said that he will take initiatives to bring back idols stolen from Nepal and smuggled to Foreign countries.

KATHMANDU, March 3: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Prem Bahadur Ale has said that he will take initiatives to bring back idols stolen from Nepal and smuggled to Foreign countries.


Speaking at the handover ceremony of the sculptures brought back to Nepal from the Rubin Museum of Art in New York, USA on Wednesday, Minister Ale expressed confidence that the bodies concerned and media personnel would help in bringing back the stolen historical heritage.

Damodar Gautam, director general of the Department of Archeology, informed all present in the event that the cultural heritage of archeological importance worth US $22,000 have been returned.


The 17th-century wooden figure, the 14th-century flying Gandharva carved woodwork, and the 13th-century marble Buddha statue have been brought to Kathmandu.
