CHITWAN, September 8: CPN (Maoist Center) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ' Prachanda' has said he would fight in the upcoming federal election from Chitwan.
The party's secretariat meeting held recently in Birgunj decided to give him the ticket from Chitwan in the central election, he informed about this at organized by the Press Center Chitwan here today.
However, the election constituency for his candidacy has not been confirmed yet. His constituency for the election would be determined in coordination with the party's district level mechanism. Also on the occasion, he held interactions with the district-based party cadres.
At the event, he took the time to claim that he had experiences of competing in elections from distinct geographical locations and background and that he wishes to link up Chitwan to the central politics with the utilization of his such experiences.
He said he was fully dedicated to the development of the districts and highlighted the importance of the district in the national politics.
"I believe my candidacy (likely) would be important for the people here as Chitwan is my political base," he said, adding that his party would collaborate with any party embracing republic and democracy for the upcoming provincial and federal elections, be it the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, and Madhes-based political parties.
He also stressed the need for fellow travelers of the peace process to institutionalize achievements made so far. The country would pursue prosperity once all the three elections are concluded.
The former Prime Minister underscored the need for changing electoral system and system of governance by amending the new constitution following the conclusion of all the three polls.
He also pledged to provide assistances from his side to build a national- level media academy in Chitwan.
