22 dead bodies recovered from landslide debris in Lidi, 17 people still missing

KATHMANDU, Aug 17: The Death toll in a massive landslide at Lidi in Jugal Rural Municipality has climbed to 22 as three more dead bodies were recovered on Monday morning.

KATHMANDU, Aug 17: The Death toll in a massive landslide at Lidi in Jugal Rural Municipality has climbed to 22 as three more dead bodies were recovered on Monday morning.


Mortal remains of Chhabilal Dong, 22, Suman Dong, 6, and Suraj Dong, 10, were excavated from the landslide debris, according to the District Police Office, Sindhupalchowk.

A joint team of Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police personnel has been mobilized to search for the people who have gone missing after being buried by the landslide on Friday morning.


Of those missing in the landslide debris, 17 others are yet to be found as of Monday afternoon.


The rain-triggered landslide swept as many as 37 houses and left 39 locals missing in the debris.
