Woman beaten up by RPP ward chairman candidate for not voting him

KAPILVASTU, May 15: A local woman has been brutally beaten up by a group led by Rahul Tharu, a ward chairman candidate of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) for Shivaraj Municipality-1 of Kapilvastu, for not voting him.

KAPILVASTU, May 15: A local woman has been brutally beaten up by a group led by Rahul Tharu, a ward chairman candidate of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) for Shivaraj Municipality-1 of Kapilvastu, for not voting him.


Asha Tharu, 35, wife of Mahabir Tharu, a resident of Ward 1, Sonpur, was brutally thrashed by Rahul's group at around 9PM on Saturday after he lost the election to the UML candidate in the local level election, according to police.

The woman sustained serious injuries in her head and mouth. According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Jessi Shah, a complaint has been registered in the name of six persons, including Rahul.


According to SP Shah, a manhunt for the perpetrators is currently underway while the injured woman is undergoing treatment at City Hospital, Butwal.
